I was inspired by the incredibly beautiful clouds in the area where our excavations took place and couldn’t resist painting them. The steppe that surrounded me also became part of the work. And later, I added the barbed wire and the birds - symbols of confinement and freedom. This contrast between the two became the idea behind the title Wings and Wire.”
