This piece is my first pencil drawing created in the field. On the first day of our survey, the whole team was particularly struck by the trees wrapped in barbed wire. One tree stood out to me the most - it was not just wrapped in wire but also bound with thin, rusted metal plates. This sight felt deeply symbolic, as the tree, something alive and growing, was constrained by iron. Yet it continued to grow, enveloping the iron. It left such a strong impression on me that I immediately decided to sketch it.
